Baskets

Once we started making these, we couldn't make enough. These baskets come in four different sizes, one larger and three smaller. Use them for decoration or for more practical, everyday use around the house. All our baskets have an arched handle, though we also make them with a swinging handle or a lid upon request. A popular gift item.

About our Baskets

Our baskets come in four sizes, each corresponding to a traditional shaker box size. So a number #3 basket is the same width and length as a #3 shaker box. The smaller sizes were historically used by the Shakers as storage for sewing supplies, but we use them to hold and carry a wide range of household items. The largest basket, the #8 size, is especially useful around the home. Use it to organize Christmas Cards, hold a bouquet of dry flowers, or your knitting projects. Spectacular as a centrepiece or in everyday use as a fruit basket.

All our the baskets have graceful arched handle, which reminds me of the St. Louis Arch: a perfect parabola. The handles are sized for each basket, which can be nested, just like our shaker boxes. We can also make the baskets with a swinging handle, or a lid. Please enquire.

Made with a food safe finish, like all of our shaker boxes and carriers.

Available Woods

Like our shaker boxes, our baskets are available in both Saskatchewan White Birch and Black Cherry. Birch has a lighter, more delicate colour. Cherry is also light in colour when freshly cut, but it darkens to a deep rich colour as it ages. Baskets are also available in several other woods, upon request.

Sizing and Prices

Baskets are available in four sizes. The size numbers (3, 4, 5, and 8) correspond to standard shaker box sizes (hence the non-sequential numbering). Prices are per basket, your choice of wood. All prices in Canadian funds. See the order page for more details about pricing, shipping, and payment.
