Custom Work
We make many other items in the traditional Shaker Oval Box style: jewelry boxes, bureau trays, serving trays and more. Most traditional shapes and sizes are available. We can also adapt traditional designs for modern needs. For example, we can make disproportionately tall boxes for storing oversized objects or create custom sets of boxes to hold specific items. We also enjoy a challenge; please contact us if you have something interesting in mind.
Shaker box options
Figured and exotic woods, different finishes, contrasting wood for box/box tops—the list is endless. Here are a few of the choices we regularly use:
Milk Paint is available for all boxes; add 10% to pricing. Please contact us for available colours.
Bird's Eye Maple. This wood represents a special challenge for the craftsman. A spectacular material; most of our products are available in this exquisite wood. Add approximately 35% to prices.
Different combinations of wood. A Cherry shaker box with a Bird's-Eye Maple lid is striking, an example of how combining different woods can lead to stunning results. Let us know if there is something particular you are interested in.
Other choices of wood are regularly available, including Black Walnut and Maple.
Available Woods
All of our products come standard in either Saskatchewan White Birch, or Black Cherry. But we can create most of our products in the following woods. If you are interested in a particular wood that is not listed, please contact us.
Birch is the most common hardwood tree in our area, and is the official tree of Saskatchewan. A very creamy and pleasing wood to the eye, light enough in color to match almost any decor.
Black cherry is anything but black. Very light in color when first cut, cherry ages over time to a beautifully deep, rich color. An exquisitely gorgeous wood.
We also work in Bird's-Eye Maple, as well as Black Walnut. Please enquire for availability and pricing. All of our wood is harvested from sustainably managed woodlots.

Furniture
We also build fine furniture. Most of our work is inspired by the clean and simple lines of the Shaker and Mission furniture styles. We are a small shop, operating mainly on word-of-mouth referrals for new business. While our small size does not permit us to exhibit a large portfolio of stock designs, it does give us the latitude to take on that special job for you.
No job is too small, although some are certainly too large! We'd love to hear from you.
